User Research
Through a series of interviews and the creation of research insight charts, I aimed to gain a comprehensive understanding of the users I am designing for and their unique needs. One significant user group identified during this research phase consisted of individuals seeking a convenient, all-in-one solution for streaming and enjoying their favorite podcasts, audiobooks, TV shows, movies, and series.
These users expressed a desire to access content from various services compiled into a single bundle, offering them a seamless and unified entertainment experience.

Competitive Analysis

based on the analysis, following painpoints were identified
Painpoints
LIMITED MEDIA LIBRARY
Users wanted a more diverse media library that covers all their needs right from audio books to T.V shows from late 90s.
1
TRACKING THEIR
CONSUMPTION TIME
Many users wanted a feature that could track the no. of hours they have spent watching their favourite shows
2
LACK OF AUDIO EBOOKS
60% of users wanted a single platform that can stream their movies, shows and can also listen to their audio books.
3
The Solution

The core concept revolved around developing an app that strikes a balance between simplicity and exceptional functionality. The primary focus was to prioritize usability throughout the design, leveraging Information architecture (IA) to enhance the overall user experience.

PROJECT FOCUSES ON
EXPANDING MEDIA LIBRARY
Giving users a wide range of library to select from different streaming services, combined together in one roof.
1
TIME TRACKING
Giving users the ability to track their media consumption
2
UNIFYING AUDIO AND VIDEO MEDIA FORMATS

-
users wanted a search functionality in the Mobile version, A new search bar to be added in the upcoming builds.
-
users found it frustrating to dig deep into the settings to find the time tracking. The tracking feature needs to be more upfront so the users wont have to go through settings page to track their consumption time.
-
Audio player needs a more visual elements. To make the audio player more immersive, illustrations should be added with dynamic subtitles.
-
users found it frustrating to have to restart the application / reload the webpage everytime they want to switch profiles. A switch profile button should be added so users can switch with ease.
-
users wanted a feature where they could add their shows to favourites list so they can be accessed later. A favourites list should be added.
-
users found it frustrating to go back to homepage on the mobile version of the app. Users needs better navigational cues and a home button should be added.
-
Users found that the help page is missing. A help page should be added so that users can easily troubleshoot their problems.

Next steps
The project aims to redefine streaming apps by providing a unified platform for video and audio content. No more switching between multiple platforms – users can access TV shows, movies, podcasts, and audiobooks all in one app. It's a streamlined and convenient solution for content consumption.
It was really exciting to see how things come together as a whole and how things interact with each other. Usability studies and testing makes a lot of difference in improving the app.
-
Conduct another round of usability studies to validate whether the pain points users experienced have been effectively addressed.
-
Improve Dark mode UI
-
support more display sizes
-
Conduct more user research to determine any new areas of need.
-
Add more screens to explore other user flows
